Turtles, Monkeys, and Crabs

Yesterday we met up with our friends at the zoo for Miss's Big day. The zoo was packed!
The day started off well enough with a stop in at the Stingray Bay exhibit where the girls were able to touch some Stingray. Next we went to the main food area for some chow. The girls were happily dancing and feeding the birds. (FYI the food was gross)

Soon after we ended up at the carousel. OMG was that an experience! Picture this: The girls are on the carousel critters, their moms standing behind them to prevent falls. Some lady (Late teens??) is on the bench outside the carousel. This lady appears to be a part of a group of..um... mentally challenged persons. Any who, this person is SCREAMING... the kind of scream you would expect if she were witnessing all the passengers of the carousel having their heads chopped off- seriously- I am not exaggerating. So combine this hysteria, the carousel music, and Heathers onset of sudden nausea (she did not barf- thank goodness), and you have the makings of a stereotypical 80's horror movie. YIKES!
After escaping the carousel, the spinning, and the crazy lady on the bench, things really went downhill fast.
The girls were hot. The girls were grumpy. My girl was intentionally annoying her little stroller buddy. I think we made it to about three critter exhibits before the zoo mission was scrapped.

Miss- "I want some alone time on this side." Friend Miss- "I want to sit with you, you are my friend."

These are the turtles that Miss may or may not have seen "first".

This picture most accurately describes the overall mood of the zoo trip.
After the zoo we all went to Build a Bear, the kids play area, and the DQ.
By the time we were home I needed a nap. (I am pretty sure by attitude alone she did too.)
But- no time for napping it was off to dance class and then out to dinner. The waitstaff sang to Miss and presented her with her Bday ice cream. And with that the big 5 birthday came to a close.
Today- the downside of being 5..... her five year check up- I believe it will include some (gulp) shots.

Love the "mood" photo in the stroller. Sort of sums your text up in one look.
