Peter B. Edmonds Mar 29, 1931- Nov 19, 2008
Today is a sad day. At approximately 4:30 Wednesday afternoon, my Step Father- Mr. Peter B. Edmonds passed away. His passing was immediate and peaceful. He will be deeply missed by all whom he has touched. There is a poem I think most accurately honors the man that Mr. Edmonds was. The poem is by Bessie Stanley (often credited to Ralph Waldo Emerson) Here is her 1905 poem:
To you Peter, and thank you- because of you, at so many moments- I have breathed easier....
"He has achieved success who has lived well, laughed often and loved much; who has gained the respect of intelligent men and the love of little children; who has filled his niche and accomplished his task; who has left the world better than he found it, whether by an improved poppy, a perfect poem, or a rescued soul; who has never lacked appreciation of earth’s beauty or failed to express it; who has always looked for the best in others and given them the best he had; whose life was an inspiration; whose memory a benediction."
Farewell sir.
